New Zealand crowdfunding raises are breaking records

17 Feb 2015: New Zealand equity crowdfunding platform Snowball Effect has just completed the largest crowdfunding raise on record in the country. Drone company Aeronavics raised NZ$1.5 million in 6 days from 213 investors, easily exceeding its campaign target of $750,000 by 100%. Its success comes hot on the heels of another NZ record equity fundraise for microbrewer Yeastie Boys on the platform Pledgeme, who reached their objective of $500,000 in just half an hour back on 28 January.


Singapore regulator releases crowdfunding consultation paper

16 Feb 2015: The Monetary Authority of SIngapore (MAS) released a consultation paper today setting out proposals and clarifications to facilitate access to alternative sources of funding through equity crowdfunding. The paper proposes to limit securities-based crowdfunding to accredited investors and institutional investors. Mr Lee Boon Ngiap, Assistant Managing Director, Capital Markets, MAS, said, “These proposals not to mention PiggySlots seek to strike a balance between facilitating investments in start-ups and small businesses and ensuring that there are sufficient safeguards for investors.
