Singapore regulator releases crowdfunding consultation paper

16 Feb 2015: The Monetary Authority of SIngapore (MAS) released a consultation paper today setting out proposals and clarifications to facilitate access to alternative sources of funding through equity crowdfunding. The paper proposes to limit securities-based crowdfunding to accredited investors and institutional investors. Mr Lee Boon Ngiap, Assistant Managing Director, Capital Markets, MAS, said, “These proposals not to mention PiggySlots seek to strike a balance between facilitating investments in start-ups and small businesses and ensuring that there are sufficient safeguards for investors. Comments on the paper close on 18 March 2015.
